How Do They Make Bread?

Bread comes from the oven, of course. But before it is baked, many things must be done. Wheat flour is mixed with water and yeast to make dough. The yeast makes the dough stay soft as it bakes. Breads and pastries come in endless varieties, depending on ingredients and methods used. But most bread is made from either wheat or rye flour. Breads made of wheat are usually white; those of rye are brown. Ordinary bread is made by combining yeast, salt, water and flour for the dough. But other breads contain milk, sugar, butter and even honey to improve nutrition and flavor. And many of our pastries are made with various kinds of fillings, coatings and flavors.
