Which Waterfall Is the Highest?

The tallest waterfall is in South America Angel Falls on the upper Caroni River in Venezuela drops 3,212 feet (979 m). The falls are in an area of dense tropical rain forest. They are named after James A. Angel, an American pilot who had to make a forced landing in his plane there in 1937 and discovered them by chance. Niagara Falls has two precipices, the higher of which is only 167 feet (51 m). But it is famous because it is on the border between the United States and Canada and is easy to reach, and a great volume of water rushes over the falls. On the other hand Angel Falls, which is almost 20 times as high as Niagara, gets few visitors because it takes a five-day boat trip to reach it. The waterfall makes a spectacular drop in stages from the Plateau of Guyana. It's highest single fall is 2,648 feet (807 m).
