Why Do We Have Dreams?

Sometimes though we're sound asleep our brain may still be a little bit awake. They say that that is when we dream. We have dreams about things that happened to us during the day, or things we always think about, but nobody really knows why we dream. It is said that things in our subconscious may appear in our dreams, or that dreams may be caused by external stimuli such as light and sound, and pressure directly affecting the brain while we are asleep. Studies of our brain waves during sleep indicate that every one and a half to two hours our sleep gets shallower and that this is the time when we seem to dream most. If we talk in our sleep it is perhaps because we are having a bad dream.
