Does the Cabbage Have Flowers?

Yes, but usually the cabbages are picked before the flowers can bloom. At first the leaves of the cabbage are spread open. As it grows, they curl up to form a round head. If they aren't picked, the leaves open again and their flowers Grow. The cabbage is related to the rape plant and has very similar flowers. Cauliflower and broccoli also belong to the same family. When young, the cabbage leaves are open but curl inward to form a head as they grow larger. Cabbage that is to be eaten is harvested at this time. If it is left to grow, a stalk emerges from the center and the leaves open out again. The flowers normally bloom just as winter is giving way to spring.
