A moving auto is pushing its weight forward. It's very heavy, so the faster it goes, the harder it is to stop. The basic laws of motion declare that all moving bodies tend to continue moving but that those at rest will continue to remain at rest. And the greater the speed, the greater is the effect of this principle. Moreover, a motor vehicle's stopping distance is very greatly influenced by weight of the vehicle and the load, and by surface conditions as well as by the driver's reaction time. A child's safety depends on him or understanding this. The faster an auto goes, the longer it takes to stop.
