Why Does a Leopard Take Its Food up a Tree?

Hyenas steal food from other animals but can't climb trees. The leopard takes food up a tree so it can't be stolen by hyenas or other animals. That way a leopard won't be disturbed as it eats. The leopard is an expert climber and makes very good use of trees. One use is to hide food in the branches. A tall tree is the natural hiding place. Leopards also sometimes lie in wait in tree branches when they are hunting. They can often be found resting quietly or taking an afternoon nap on a tree branch. Unlike lions, which hunt in groups, the leopard hunts alone, mostly at night, looking for small mammals and birds. It hunts by either lying in wait or creeping up close and spring upon its prey.
